About Us
Tormented Doodles consist of tribal inspired high contrast designs based upon themes or a pensive mind...
Origin
I have been partial to doodling tribal styled designs since I was a teenager. They never served a purpose beyond being enjoyable and relaxing to create. I would often doodle when I was stressed, bored or anxious about life in general. So they have essentially been an outlet for a tormented mind from an early age. Over time though, my designs have become more a creation of a pensive mind than a tormented one. I simply let my mind drift onto various subject matters as I allow ink to flow from my fingertips to the page.
Business Conception
By trade I am actually a professional games programmer, unfortunately I suffered a serious lapse in health in 2010 which resulted in many trips and stays in hospital. It impacted my profession and despite a long battle against chronic pain, I ultimately left the games industry in Dec 2015.
I became a full time dad and committed myself to that. I hated the feeling of losing my financial independence and began doodling again. Family members said how much they liked the doodles I created, and upon asking various friends their opinions, I decided to see if I could turn a lifelong hobby into a business.
Therefore I created the business in August 2016, I have been splitting my time between being a full time dad and my business. However, times are progressing and I will soon have more time to focus on my business and I'm hoping that I can push it forward in 2017 and beyond.

Inspiration
I have always drawn inspiration from edgy designs and patterns. From an early age I have had a natural attraction to the beauty of the markings of Tigers, Burmese Pythons, Bengal and Tabby cats. As I encountered tribal designs of various origins I instinctively developed a great appreciation for them. As a result, my doodles over many years have adopted aspects from these origins.
Since I have begun to take my doodles more seriously, I have found my own designs inspirational to myself also. When I have finished covering a page/canvas in my designs, then I like to sit back and just stare at it. I find it relaxing and calming to analyse the design and see what shapes I can see within my doodles that I had not intended.
For this reason I view the canvas style designs as a type of inspirational muse. I can only hope other artists may be able to look at my designs and be inspired by what shapes form in their mind as they stare at them.
